Coleman R. Ellis is a partner at the firm of Ghafoor Cook Ellis LLC, where he focuses his work in the areas of debtor and creditor rights, bankruptcy, and general business and real estate transactions. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Kansas and Utah.
Coleman assists individuals, non-profits and businesses to overcome financial challenges and get back on their feet; or to liquidate and close their doors in an organized and ethical manner. Much of his work involves representing debtors and creditors in cases under Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. His business clients include franchisees, hotel owners, manufacturing concerns, food service providers, health-care companies, religious-based organizations, and real-estate holding companies.
Coleman is a member of The Missouri Bar, the Kansas Bar Association, the Utah Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He received a juris doctorate from of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, an MBA from the Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Utah.
